Providing Economic Opportunity

2013 Goal
We are planning for at least 500 individuals to be involved in the lives of others by committing to one of the following opportunities.
Bixby Outreach Center
- Locations:

Support families seeking to move beyond a financial crisis by mentoring or teaching classes.
You will be required to attend a one-day training and complete a background check. Time commitment varies depending on the type of volunteer opportunity you select.
City Rescue Mission
- Locations:
- OKC Metro
Connect with the homeless men, women, and children in the Oklahoma City metro through this solution-based ministry
Volunteers are asked to commit a minimum of 2-4 hours per month.
First Care
- Locations:
- Wellington
Provide education, counseling and women's medical services to empower individuals to make life-affirming decisions leading to hope, health & healing.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to serve in different areas of the pregnancy center, classroom educator programs and various administration opportunities after attending a required orientation.
Habitat for Humanity

Help develop communities with people in need by building and renovating houses through which people can live, grow, and experience God’s love.
Commitment varies with the various volunteer opportunities, and requirements include: background checks, waivers, provided training, and must be at least 14 years old.
Neighborhood Needs

Support families in south Fort Worth to grow stronger together through gardening, training classes, mentoring, and emergency food and clothing.
Neighborhood Needs asks all volunteers to come to serve with a smile, approach each family with a smile, and have fun! A background check is required.
Oasis Compassion Agency

- Wellington
Show God’s love in practical ways by addressing the physical and spiritual needs of the poor/needy in central Palm Beach County.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to work in the food pantry, clothing ministry, and career center, as well as several other volunteer opportunities throughout the year after completing the approval process and attending an orientation.
Owasso Community Resources

Walk alongside families affected by unemployment and low paying jobs in the Owasso community through job training, counseling, and distributing emergency food.
Time commitments and required training varies depending on the opportunity that you choose.
Regional Food Bank
- Locations:
- OKC Metro
Help fight hunger while providing hope.
Volunteers deliver food to assigned school on a monthly basis.
Shalom Zone
- Locations:
- Hendersonville
Provide opportunities for growth and personal development to those who need it most in the Gallatin area through tutoring, mentoring, and life skills training with children, teens, and adults.
Volunteers must attend a one time training and anyone who is involved in after school tutoring is asked to commit to at least one full semester.
The Spero Project
- Locations:
- OKC Metro
Engage in a biblical response to under-resourced populations through Spero’s volunteer opportunities which include supporting a local food Co-Op, hosting classes at the Lyrewood Community Center, and participating in missional trainings to gain awareness and education about poverty.
A background check is required and you will receive training. As a volunteer, Spero requests that you commit one Saturday morning or one weeknight a month to support their various efforts on a consistent basis in order to develop relationships with those served.
Being There for Kids
We are passionate about being there for every kid and teenager in our communities, bringing peace to homes, and shaping the next generation.
2013 Goal
We are planning for at least 1,200 individuals to be involved in the life of a child or youth during 2012 by committing to one of the following life-changing opportunities.
111 Project

Support the 8,000+ foster children in Oklahoma by attending foster care orientations, supporting current foster families and case workers, volunteering at the foster child shelter, or becoming a foster family.
Training and guidance is provided based on the area of involvement you select.
Arrowhead Elementary
- Locations:
- Tulsa Metro
Help students at Arrowhead Elementary in Broken Arrow feel needed and know through mentoring.
Volunteers will attend a 2-hour training event and spend 1 hour per week during the school year mentoring students.
The Bair Foundation
- Locations:
- Tulsa Metro
Show the love of Jesus Christ to children who desperately need to know they are loved despite being victims of physical, sexual, or psychological abuse.
Potential foster families must pass a background check and complete educational requirements including a group study and home study.
Big Brothers Big Sisters

- Stillwater
- Albany
Solve the problem of education, incarceration and individual wellness in the life of one kid by being his or her mentor through Big Brother Big Sisters.
To be a mentor you will complete an application, background check, and personal interview, and provide character references. Big Brothers Big Sisters asks mentors to commit to spending a minimum of one hour a week with the mentee for one year.
Boys and Girls Club

Invest in the lives of kids through mentoring, tutoring, and coaching at the Boys and Girls Club of Oklahoma County, which offers a safe, positive place for kids to spend their out of school time.
A background check is required and you will be asked to make a commitment to spend two hours per week for at least six months.
Britton Elementary

Help students at Sunset Elementary in north Edmond achieve academic excellence and grow in the areas of character and responsibility by being a mentor/tutor to a student.
Sunset requires that you commit to volunteering hour per week and a background check is required.
CASA
- Locations:
- OKC Metro
Stand up for abused and neglected kids in Oklahoma County by becoming a court-appointed adovcate with CASA.
A background check is required and this opportunity requires a commitment of roughly 20 hours per month. Extensive training is provided.
Citizens Caring for Children
- Locations:
- OKC Metro
Break the cycle of abuse and neglect for Oklahoma foster children through Citizens Caring for Children by mentoring, serving at the essential needs resource center, or helping with projects such as Santa Stop Christmas store and monthly birthday parties for kids in the shelter.
To be a mentor you must be 21 years old, complete the application and interview process, have a clear background check, make a one-year commitment to spend 5-8 hours per month with a child.
Element

Provide a rich educational environment tailored to fit the social and academic needs of each student.
Volunteers teach short-term (1-6 weeks) workshops one day a week. Material presented can include almost any topic suitable for middle school and high school students.
Emergency Infant Services

Help to meet the basic human needs of infants and children whose families are in crises.
Depending on varying commitment levels, EIS offers screening, training and support for volunteers.
The Higher Ed Forum
- Locations:
- Tulsa Metro
Help students gain access to post-high school education by helping a middle or high school student get ready to attend college.
You will attend a four-hour training then spend one hour twice each month in a classroom.
J.T. Stevens Elementary School
- Locations:
- Fort Worth
Help students at J.T. Stevens Elementary School achieve academic excellence and grow in the areas of character and responsibility by being a mentor to a student and/or providing support for faculty in various ways.
A background check is required and a consistent commitment to volunteering is requested.
The Man to Man Project
- Locations:
- Tulsa Metro
Combat the school dropout rates among young men in urban communities by offering group mentoring for young minority men ages 12 to 20.
Mentoring sessions consist of 10-15 volunteers who provide tutoring for the kids following by an activity. Each session occurs once a week from 3:30/4:30 to 6:00pm.
Novo Ministries

Mentor inner-city kids whose lives are affected by poverty, violence, crime, divorce, alcoholism, prostitution, and drug abuse through a weekly after-school program that shares positive teaching and caring relationships.
Novo volunteers will participate in Novo Volunteer Training and spend two hours a week with their mentees during the after-school Bible club.
OKC & Mid-Del Mentoring Program

Be a mentor to a small group of middle school students through a weekly program that helps students find a sense of purpose and develop in key areas of their lives. The programs lasts 25 weeks and includes a weekly mentoring session that you will help facilitate.
A background check is required, you will receive annual training, and you will be asked to make a 25-week commitment.
OKC Warriors Wrestling

Guide boys to develop character and succeed in school through a unique program that combines competitive wrestling and academic tutoring. You can help coach, be a tutor, or both.
A background check and a commitment of 2-3 hours per week is required.
Prompt the Word
- Locations:
- Hendersonville
Build mentoring relationships with special needs children as they benefit from services for communicatively impaired individuals.
Volunteers are required to meet with their mentee once a week through a lunch buddy program, park pals program, or community outings.
Relations Group Home
- Locations:
- Tulsa Metro
Change the lives of kids and youth who are in the foster care system through a mentoring relationship.
You will be required to attend a brief training and spend two hours twice each month with the kids at the group home.
Special Olympics (Yukon Special Needs)
- Locations:
- OKC Metro
develop relationships through mentoring, help children with special needs, volunteer at events, and connect with the community to bring awareness.
Individuals working with children will need to complete training and a background check.
Tulakes Elementary School
- Locations:
- OKC Metro
Help to educate, empower, and equip students at Tulakes Elementary in northwest Oklahoma City through opportunities to work with the teachers, help with FAST camp and fun days, join other women for Zumba classes, support school events, and contribute resources.
A background check is required and a consistent commitment to volunteering is requested.
Tulsa Youth Services

Help change the lives of homeless teenagers through mentoring relationships.
This partner requires volunteers to attend a training experience and have a weekly in-person meeting with their mentee.
Whiz Kids
- Locations:
- OKC Metro
Change a life by being a mentor through the Oklahoma City Whiz Kids program, which focuses on helping kids who live in the areas of the city with the highest school dropout levels.
You will help with homework and be a mentor to an individual student every Wednesday afternoon from 3:00-5:00 during the school year. A background check and an on-site training session are required. A minimum of a one year commitment is requested
Windsor Hills Elementary

Help students at Windsor Hills in north Oklahoma City achieve academic excellence and grow in the areas of character and responsibility by being a mentor/tutor to a student.
Windsor Hills requires that you attend a training session and commit to volunteering hour a week for at least six months.
World Baseball Outreach

- Tulsa Metro
Join the efforts of applying baseball as the platform to provide faith-based mentoring, relationship building, and leadership development among underserved youth.
Volunteers will be screened, trained, and given the opportunity to serve as instructors, coaches, managers, coordinators, after school program leaders, and other supporting roles.
Youth and Family Services

Working with this partner, volunteers will have opportunities to change the lives of children in foster care by doing everything from spending time together once a week to becoming foster parents.
The commitment from a volunteer is to go through the YFS training and volunteering once a week with the kids.
Young Life
- Locations:

Bring the good news of Jesus Christ into the lives of adolescents outside the church with an approach that is respectful of who kids are and hopeful about who they can be by providing fun, adventurous life changing experiences and loving them no matter their response.
Young Life has four 1-hour training sessions and then you will spend 1-5 hours a week with kids depending on which particular school and ministry you are placed at.
Finding a Fresh Start
We will walk with individuals seeking a fresh start by breaking unhealthy cycles and helping others find freedom. Restoration is a two-way street that only happens through relationship.
2013 Goal
We are planning for at least 400 individuals to engage in a two-way relationship of restoration with others through one of the following life-changing opportunities.
Children of Purpose

Work with children (grades Pre-K to 12) who are academically and behaviorally challenged, having difficulties functioning in the public school system and/or have chronic disciplinary and school suspension histories.
Volunteers will have a chance to mentor the kids as well as helping the school with supplies and facilities maintenance after the volunteer meets with Dr. Allen as part of the orientation process.
Eden Clinic

Be there to provide support and guidance in a small group setting to single mothers who are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy.
A background check is required and you will receive ongoing training.
End Slavery Tennessee
- Locations:
- Hendersonville
Help create a slave-free Tennessee and holistically restore survivors of human trafficking through raising public awareness, bringing aid to victims, and preventing future victims.
Commitment and training are dependent on the specific volunteer opportunity.
HomeSafe
- Locations:
- Hendersonville
Support women who are recovering from domestic abuse and help prevent domestic abuse by helping with much-needed educational programs at HomeSafe. You can help operate a help line, assist with adult and child support groups, or participate in community education programs and events.
The commitment for volunteering includes 4-8 hours of training depending on the volunteer role along with a weekly commitment if involved in support sessions.
John 3:16 Mission

John 3:16 Mission meets the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of Tulsa's hungry, homeless, and at-risk. You can help school-aged children, homeless individuals, and recovery students in various volunteer roles.
Training varies based on the type of volunteer role and a background check is required.
O.A.T.H. (Oklahomans Against Trafficking Humans)

Join the mission to bring abolitionists together to expose and end slavery through literature distribution, youth services, the Station Drop-In Center, the Safe Place and Coffee House, small group outreaches, prayer groups, and educational programs.
Partner requires volunteer screening and training prior to involvement.
Pregnancy Resource Center

Provide support, guidance, and mentoring to girls and women in an unplanned pregnancy or assist in providing services to clients.
Training depends on the type of volunteer role you select.
Stillwater Life Services

Participate in one-on-one mentoring with women and men who are in a crisis specific to pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, harmful relationships, or low self-esteem.
There are also other types of volunteer opportunities. Training is required and a commitment of one hour per week is requested.
Wings of Hope

Join the mission to break the cycle of interpersonal violence by supporting families through the process of restoration and healing.
Volunteers are required to complete training and a background check and must be 18 years of age or older.
YWCA of the Greater Capital Region

serve women and children in crisis through restorative relationships, giving of your time to help provide a renewed spirit, new skills, and stronger lives.
This partner requires volunteers to have a tour & orientation before serving, while providing the necessary oversight and accountability during those opportunities.
