When God works in our lives, there's a story to tell. We share these stories to celebrate and remember how the powerful love of Christ changes our world.
Spero
Persecution. War. Fear that they won’t live another day. Fleeing desperate circumstances, refugees who come to the United States are running towards a new life. As they do, they often lack the resources they need to gain a firm footing in their unfamiliar surroundings.
LifeChurch.tv partnered with the Spero Project, a community development non-profit, to establish a language learning lab, which teaches English to refugees, helping them assimilate into our culture and gain critical skills for future employment. One participant has used those skills at a local cafe, and has even been able to help the Spero team communicate with other new families who don’t speak English yet. Her husband found employment as well, and her family has enjoyed education opportunities and additional assistance.
The Spero Project works closely with international refugees to partner the resources of the local community with the needs of the refugee population, specifically through education, job training, social networking, and advocacy.
This kind of partnership represents a key direction for our missions efforts. We are teaming up with organizations that are focused on identifying, developing, and resourcing the assets in each community. We want to foster environments where relationships are formed, strengths are empowered, and where the love of Jesus is present.
