When God works in our lives, there's a story to tell. We share these stories to celebrate and remember how the powerful love of Christ changes our world.
Hope in Haiti
In less than one minute, life took a dramatic turn for the people of Haiti. An earthquake struck the country on January 12, leaving a path of destruction in its wake.
Convoy of Hope was already on the scene working with local churches, so LifeChurch.tv partnered with them to provide immediate relief to the earthquake victims. Through that partnership, we were able to quickly provide food to 125,000 people, and over time more than 15 million Haitians. We’ve also helped supply water filtration systems for desperately needed clean water.
By empowering churches in the area, it allowed thousands of local church members to carry out the relief and rehabilitation—Haitians ministering to Haitians. The efforts extended beyond physical needs as well. “We don’t just want people to have food and the knowledge of how to plant a garden. We want people to have a knowledge of Christ and experiencing Him,” said Rick Ryan, Director of Church Relations for Convoy of Hope.
Our response to the earthquake also included a partnership with Samaritan’s Purse to assist with disaster relief efforts and the subsequent cholera outbreak, a special offering dedicated to the earthquake victims, and several online prayer gatherings where thousands of prayers were voiced for the people of Haiti.
While there is still much work to be done in Haiti, our efforts there are making a difference and residents are dreaming of a brighter future for their country.
